Your sites.
One tap away.

Essentials for Chrome is a browser extension that keeps the sites you use most in a toolbar popup grid, organized into spaces and synced between desktop installations of the same browser. A one-time $4.99, with no subscription and no separate Essentials account to create.

Features

A browser extension built for speed, not clutter.

Real keyboard shortcuts, a popup that opens fast, and a grid that stays out of your way. Everything is small on purpose.

Toolbar grid

A clean lattice of your essentials in your browser toolbar. Set rows and columns to whatever fits your brain. No folders to dig through.

Spaces

Personal, Work, Side Project. Switch contexts with Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 and the popup follows.

Browser sync

Your essentials sync between desktop installations of the same browser using that browser's sync account. They are not sent to the developer.

Quick add

Add the current tab with +, or right-click any link to add it. Reorder by dragging. Done.

Real shortcuts

Alt+1 to Alt+9 opens an essential. Ctrl/⌘+Shift+E toggles the popup. Configurable per space.

Light & dark

Tracks the system. Carefully tuned for both modes. No last-minute hacks.

How it works

Setting up Essentials takes three steps.

No tutorial and no separate Essentials account. Install, click the icon, add your first site in a click.

1

Install from the Chrome Web Store

One-time purchase, no subscription. Pin Essentials to your toolbar to keep it a click away.

2

Add what you actually use

Click the toolbar icon, hit + to add the current tab, or right-click any link and choose Add to Essentials.

3

Find them fast

Click an icon to open. Drag to reorder. Right-click to rename, recolor, or move to another space.

Switching browsers?

An Arc and Zen Essentials alternative for Chrome.

Arc and Zen put your key sites one tap away in an "Essentials" grid. Essentials brings that workflow to Chrome, Edge, Brave, and more. And because Arc is Chromium-based, it installs right in Arc too.

Spaces

Spaces: a separate grid for work, personal, and side projects.

Each space is its own independent grid with its own keyboard shortcuts. Cap your work tabs at the end of the day and switch with a keystroke.

Browser sync

Sync between desktop installations of the same browser.

Essentials uses the current browser's built-in extension sync storage. Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other supported browsers use separate sync services, so they do not sync Essentials data with one another. The developer cannot read it, and there is no separate Essentials login. Sync is enabled by default; turn it off in Settings to keep Essentials data in this browser installation only. Timing is controlled by your browser.

  • Stored in your browser account, not in a developer-operated service
  • Works offline; reconciles automatically
  • Turn sync off to keep Essentials data in this browser installation only
